One Drop

The long-accepted experience of managing diabetes with a blood glucose meter has been a complex, clunky experience that only serves to remind users of sickness. One Drop and PENSA looked to empower users, making the management of diabetes an integral part of their lifestyle. Designed to motivate users, while promoting mindfulness, One Drop overhauls the design of traditional glucose meters to address the emotional component of being dependent on a medical device, providing a beautiful, modern design that can be used with pride.
The Bluetooth connected meter, and its accompanying kit, makes logging simple with everything stored securely and automatically in the One Drop Mobile app. Review your tracking and progress, gain powerful, personal insight into food and lifestyle choices, connect with the One Drop community and get advice from an expert all at your fingertips.
The team at Pensa worked hand in hand with the One Drop team, considering every element of the product experience starting with the first moment the One Drop box is opened. Empowerment and encouragement is designed into every last detail to reinforce the message of the One Drop brand.

Zero Haliburton

Known for products built on quality, durability, strength, and luxury – this iconic American brand wanted to create a new generation of luggage crafted for the modern traveler.
PENSA worked with Zero Halliburton to create a bold modernization on their classic product. We re-imagined everything from the design of the handle to materials in order to create an elevated experience for the thoughtful traveler.
Zero Halliburton introduced the world to aluminum suitcases in 1938, and their cases are known for legendary protection. Unlike a molded plastic shell, an aluminum case is a formed object. There are things that are possible to do with the material, and there are also limitations. We were determined to push those limitations in order to achieve a beautiful, iconic and sculptural form that takes advantage of the material qualities and creates a stronger and more structural case.
Through many rounds and iterations of aluminum prototypes, we focused in on geometries that provided stiffness and impact resistance. One of the key and unique elements to this design language is the structural, concave form that runs along all of the edges and corners of the cases. As we tested various geometries we found that this concave edge provided a significant improvement over a traditional bent or rounded geometry when absorbing and protecting against impacts. This form running along the edges is not only functional, but also provides an elegant and recognizable signature element across the Zero Halliburton cases.
All of the details, features, and interactions of the designs were thoughtfully considered. A unique innovation in the new generation of Zero Halliburton products is the lower chassis that is carried across all of the new cases. Unlike typical wheel wells in hard sided luggage, these designs incorporate one-piece, fully integrated, reinforced bases which provide protection to the entire lower portion of the shells and the wheel areas. This level of consideration can also be seen in the design of the retractable pull handles, not only in their generous and comfort-driven forms, but also in their rich depth of color, achieved through a two-shot molding process.

ONEBLADE

ONEBLADE had a vision of a razor that would evoke the experience and quality of a classic straight razor shave in the comfort of the user’s home. We took it from there.
ONEBLADE is the result of more than a year of design and invention. We can confidently state it’s the best home shaving experience out there. From the moment the package is opened, the product conveys heirloom-quality luxury. Crafted from 100% German stainless steel, it feels solid and balanced, comfortably navigating facial contours to reach every angle.
The ONEBLADE razor has a unique head geometry and suspension that provides safety and comfort in a perfectly balanced package. The loading and unloading of this blade was a carefully considered user experience. A unique snap-in blade loading mechanism removes the typical dexterity challenges with loading a new blade into a safety razor. The audible click let’s you know that it’s game time.
This heirloom quality product demanded us to aim high. The ONEBLADE is 100% German stainless steel produced with metal injection molding, a process never before used in this type of product. We also incorporated a single edge blade made by Feather, the Japanese maker of the highest quality shaving blades in the world.

Lotik

1 out of every 5 toilets in NYC leaks, causing water waste and costly damage. Lotik wireless sensors provide point-of-use water monitoring to track usage and detect leaks before they happen. Designed with building owners in mind, the streamlined dashboard incentivizes tenants to conserve usage and reduce costs, saving owners up to 40% on water bills.
The Lotik sensor’s clean and simple design complements modern bathrooms and kitchens in homes and buildings. The outer white gloss shell speaks to the smart protective nature of the product and blends in with its surroundings. All sensor components are water, humidity and tamper-proof and the shell is easily wiped off when cleaning.
In order to get accurate readings on a wide variety of plumbing scenarios the Lotik sensor needs to be very flexible and easy to deploy in a wide variety of locations including tight and sometimes invisible spots. The final product was created for quick one-handed attachment operation, no tools required.

D.I.Wire Pro

While prototyping at PENSA we realized that there was no CNC benchtop solution to bending metal rod or wire. Our 3D printers built volumes, our laser cutter cut plains, but we had no fast and repeatable benchtop solution for bending lines. We started from scratch; designing, engineering and producing the machine and its software.
The D.I.Wire Pro is the newest and most powerful benchtop CNC wire bender designed and developed by Pensa Labs. The wire bender offers the kind of power, speed, and precision that professionals need. Fully configurable and affordable, the D.I.Wire Pro solves the prototyping or small batch production needs of craftsmen everywhere.
The bending mechanism delivers smooth, tight radius curves — from fine orthodontic retainer wire to stainless steel parts. Bend any wire material between 0.027” (0.7mm) to 0.188” (4.8mm), bend strap, add a straightener & other accessories to optimize production.
The D.I.Wire Pro comes with its own smart bending software, Wireware 2.0, designed and developed by Pensa. The software is easy to use and allows for high level of control when needed. Wireware 2.0 offers two ways to produce bent shapes: In Path mode, graphically create shapes or import SVG files. In Script Mode, create complex programs using conversational script or G-code.
The D.I.Wire Pro is the second product launched by Pensa Labs. It can be found on our website along side our original product, the D.I.Wire Plus.

Branch & Vine

With Branch & Vine for Cintas we were challenged to create a new brand built on elegant, high-quality product experiences and suited for the hospitality industry. The solution steps away from an industrial look and focuses on welcoming, warm and natural finishes while also improving product features and hygiene. The new brand further delivers on this sophisticated solution with its refined, consistent elements.
Tasked with understanding the needs of organizational stakeholders as well as customers, we took a hands-on approach. Following along on route rides provided unique insights into the customer needs as well as the needs of service reps as they move throughout various hospitality environments each day.
Functional innovations allow for different configurations suitable for a variety of space and venue needs. The designs incorporate a simple 90 degree bayonet lock to provide consistent orientation and theft protection.
Trays allow for drip catch and the rich material creates a beautiful presentation. The passive air freshener uses unique scented gypsum beads. This creates a sophisticated, layered look and feel with the resin base and tinted and frosted translucent body. The lid opening provides air flow and prevents users from touching the beads.
