Tedra (TK) Wismer, IDSA
Exhibit Designer | Deckel and Moneypenny
I began my design career as a set and wardrobe stylist, breathing life into commercials, television, and photography. My work has been featured in publications including Southern Living, HGTV Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, and Vogue, as well as several television and commercial campaigns.
In 2014, I turned my attention to residential and commercial interior projects and launched my own company, Department of the Interiors. My two worlds merged as I started getting called on for design projects with a marketing focus and I evolved from chasing current trends to defining what comes next, consulting with businesses and brands to set style guides and trend forecasts for product development and marketing.
Eighteen months ago, I joined Deckel and Moneypenny and found that trade show design challenged me to explore new levels of experience and design. Today I am a multifaceted, experiential designer with a passion for building strong brands and a love for project management and team development.
Statement of Candidacy (Women in Design Committee – Northeast | 2022-2023 term)
Design is my passion, while communication is my calling. I thrive on collaboration and as I transition into higher levels within my career, I find that the opportunity to connect with and develop talented creatives is extremely rewarding. I want to be part of a larger community of design focused individuals and I look forward to the opportunity to become a key contributor within the IDSA organization. While I am a creative, I have also worked in several roles where I had to bridge the gap between creatives and clients or agencies. I love to explore topics around process and communication and share those with others. I am passionately inquisitive, and I love the opportunity to solve problems with a team. I believe that design is everything and that designers truly shape the future. If chosen, I would focus on building relationships, sharing inspirations, and creating a network of support for designers at every stage of their career. I would promote a highly collaborative and fun environment and look forward to learning all about the organization and further developing my leadership capabilities.
