Sunand Bhattacharya

Sunand Bhattacharya is responsible for strategy, management and evangelization of Autodesk’s future influence advocacy for its global academic markets.
Prior to Autodesk, he held various positions related to design education including co-founder of Arjuna Learning Designs LLC. Bhattacharya also is a tenured professor of industrial design and has held executive positions at Southern Illinois University. He is a recipient of the Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology Award from the International Conference on College Teaching and Learning.
Bhattacharya is a graduate of the National Institute of Design NID in India and holds a graduate degree in industrial design and human factors from The Ohio State University.
PANEL: Educate Designers in the Digital Age
With the advent of ways to visualize ideas, model, develop design solutions, rapidly prototype, collaborate, share and iterate-on-the-fly using digital design software technologies such as Fusion360—traditional ways of teaching industrial design in the classroom environment are being questioned by educators, employers and students.
Academics and design professionals will share success stories on implementing models for teaching industrial design using Fusion360 in the development workflow—bridging the gap between education and industry expectations.

WORKSHOP: Experience Designing in the Digital Age
Immediately following the panel, come participate in a 60 minute, hands-on workshop. The demonstration will guide attendees through a concept to solution process using digital tools. Leverage classic sketching skills in a digital media with Sketchbook 7. Take that design intent directly into CAD with Fusion360 to realize a 3D model. Finally, use Mesh Mixer/Fusion to prepare a 3D print.
The workshop will be conducted by Autodesk’s Jeff Smith and assisted by Kerstin Strom, IDSA and Sunand Bhattacharya. Wacom and Autodesk are partnering for this session to highlight how hardware, software and design process have evolved in the digital world.
