Sean Higgs, IDSA | Fred Sparks Design
St. Louis Chapter Education Co-Chair: 2014-2015
As it seems to be the case with most industrial designers, Sean had no idea what industrial design was, until after finishing his undergrad work. In 2012, he received a B.A. In Mathematics from Webster University, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in Saint Louis. He began his career double-interning at Koller Craft Plastics, and Fred Sparks Design. It is at Fred Sparks, that he discovered his passion for design. After gaining a year of injection molding experience, he took a full-time roll at Fred Sparks to strengthen his design ability. It is his ultimate goal to achieve a balanced view of product design, by understanding form, function, and manufacturability. In keeping with this goal, he has joined the education mission of IDSA to spread the importance of engineering knowledge in the industrial design field, and the importance of design in the engineering field, as well as spreading awareness to students of the existence of ID in general.
