Joseph A. Carriero, FIDSA

US industrial design educator who chaired the industrial design department at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art (now the University of the Arts). In 1957 he founded and served as the first president of the Industrial Design Education Association (IDEA). In 1973 he was chairman of the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis, New York State College of Human Ecology, Cornell University, New York. Under a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, he conducted a survey describing 41 schools and programs titled, Industrial Design Education in the USA: A Factual Summary, which was published by IDSA.
