Managing and Leading Design Research

Discover unmet needs that change your business perspective and development process.

Revealing unmet consumer needs has become more important than ever, and design research plays a critical role: either as managing or leading part of an existing market or consumer research team, external partners, or as an integral deliverable of the design organization.

Although delivery of design research is an expertise in itself, the actual management of it should not be neglected. Well managed and led design research ensures that the solutions delivered by the design function drive impactful results for your organization.

The audience will learn. . .

  1. How can you ensure that the outcome of the design research is integrated within your business context and design process?
  2. How do other world-leading organizations go about managing and leading design research?
  3. How could design research drive innovation for your organization?
  4. How could you set up and manage design research activities?

Design for Humanity

As designers, everything we produce and help to produce will end up somewhere in the world. Whether physical, digital, or both, the implications and impact of design choices must be fully considered across the triple (social, environmental and economical) bottom line. In this session, learn how to better influence and lead the (front end) business strategy and navigate across your organization to ensure that the commercialized outcomes and development consequences will leave the world a better place. Participate in a hands-on activity to map your own personal course of actions to make sustainability a key pillar in your design strategy.

Design for Humanity

Humanity is at a turning point, and design plays a pivotal role in the products and services that are implemented into the world around us. Designers need to be responsible with their business, not only from a financial perspective but across the triple bottom line of profit, planet and people. Learn why environmental and social factors should be equally considered in a design process and in the design solutions themselves.
