Urban Tree
Urban Tree makes use of Pittsburgh’s aging urban forest to craft unique furniture. Jason Boone and his team process end of life urban trees into slab lumber, then design and build-to-order from Urban Tree’s stock of reclaimed material. Through this process, the company finds unique applications for a previously untapped material source and gives local patrons the opportunity to own heirloom furniture with hometown heritage.
Boone earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kansas State University and worked as a professional architect for more than ten years, including four with renowned firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson.
Don’t Screw It Up
It’s the Urban Tree motto—Why? Trees are already special and it’s this Pittsburgh company’s job to simply not screw them up. Urban Tree’s Jason Boone and Nate Lucas will discuss the challenges and rewards of reclaiming and repurposing urban trees.
