US industrial designer. In 1946, he was a staff designer at the Ekco Company, and was on the team that designed their "Flint " line of kitchen tools, the first to be sold in a set.
Hvale was a member of the Industrial Designers Institute (IDI) and in 1955 he and Bill Goldsmith of the American Society of Industrial Designers (ASID) worked together to organize an exhibition of members work at the Illinois Institute of Technology, entitled "Industrial Design: Today and Tomorrow", in conjunction with the opening of Crown Hall, home of the Institute of Design. Hvale was awarded IDSA Fellowship in 1967.
