Ian is the founder and CEO of Peterman Design Firm and has worked in product development, industrial design, and engineering for over 15 years. He received his bachelor’s in Industrial Design at the Art Institute of Portland with a focus on consumer products and eco design. He’s worked with startups and companies like HP, Nike, Barefoot Sound, OnRobot, and more. While in college, he was part of the student IDSA chapter leadership.
As chapter chair, Ian will be engaging with current and future members in building a vibrant community for the LA chapter. His goals are to ensure inclusivity from the ground up, provide events and informational content on a regular basis to help membership grow, and to get support from the community of businesses and designers across LA. He also wants to help to represent more social-first and eco-conscious ideas and brands. Says Ian: “I think our LA chapter should be vibrant, diverse, and full of exciting and informational events for members and our community.”
