Hanmin Lee, MD is professor of surgery and surgeon-in-chief of Benioff Children’s Hospital, San Francisco and director of the Fetal Treatment Center at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He also holds the Michael Harrison Distinguished Chair of Fetal Surgery. Dr. Lee earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Johns Hopkins University and completed medical school and surgery residency at New York University. He did postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School and pediatric surgery fellowship at Emory University.
Dr. Lee is recognized internationally as a leader in pediatric surgery and in fetal diagnosis and surgery. He has helped lead multiple NIH-funded clinical trials and published extensively in these areas. Dr. Lee’s research interest in medical device innovation. He leads the UCSF Surgical Innovation program and focuses his efforts on medical devices to increase patient safety.
