George McCain, FIDSA

Principal, McCainDesign George McCain, FIDSA, principal at McCainDesign and a graduate of the Industrial Design program at the University of Washington (BA, 1969), retired after 38 years as an Industrial Designer at Fluke Corporation where his career culminated as Corporate Design Manager and included three years as Industrial Design Manager at Fluke Nederland in Holland. George has been issued nine US Design Patents and his work has been recognized with awards from the IDSA/BusinessWeek IDEA (Industrial Design Excellence Award), iF Hannover, and the JIDPO (Japanese Industrial Design Promotional Organization) Good Design Award, among others, and George was included in the Smithsonian, Cooper Hewitt Museum’s Inaugural National Design Triennial (2001) for his work on the Fluke 180 Series Digital Multimeter. He has been involved in the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) at both the local and national level, as an officer in the Northwest Chapter, IDSA, from 1980-1986, as Western District Vice President, as member of the Board of Directors, and as President of the Design Foundation and is an IDSA Fellow. From 2002 to 2012, George was an Affiliate Associate Professor in the Industrial Design program at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA.
