Donald L. McFarland, FIDSA

US industrial designer who recåeived a bachelor’s in aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and worked at Chance Vought aircraft to create the first carrier jet fighter. In 1951 he became manager of product planning for General Electric in Bridgeport, CT and in 1957 head of all small appliances. He was president of ASID in 1958. In 1960 he joined with Latham Tyler Jensen Inc. as a partner and established its West Coast office. He was awarded SID Fellowship, which was honored by IDSA in 1965 upon merger of the societies. In 1973 he established McFarland Design Inc. in Santa Barbara, CA.
