Charlie Cannon

Charlie Cannon is the head of the Industrial Design Department at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). In 1999, he co-founded the Innovation Studio at RISD to use design and creative thinking to confront the most vexing issues of our day.
Previously, Cannon served as chief design officer at EPIC Decade, a strategy and innovation studio and co-founded two, award-winning architecture practices; developed web strategies and software interfaces; designed books for faculty at Harvard University and created visual arguments for Rhode Island policy makers.

The world is changing. Global supply chains and telecommunications are forcing businesses to see themselves as planetary enterprises. Digital technologies are creating more intimate connections between our physical and virtual experiences. Small organizations and individuals now have access to the means of production, the funding and the publics that were once the province of large enterprises.
