A Questionnaire for Practicing Industrial Designers

design-survey-banner.png

Practicing industrial designers across disciplines (including: furniture, automotive, apparel, etc.) are invited to participate in this online questionnaire. The analyzed results are aimed to be published in multiple academic journals and finally compiled in the PhD thesis of Christoph Koch, IDSA, an industrial designer, PhD candidate, and sessional lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.

Information Statement:

You are invited to participate in an online questionnaire, which serves to gain a better knowledge about requirements of product/industrial designers, their design methods in the current practice, and how they have to adapt and implement changes to stay relevant to manufacturers. The outcome will inform how product/industrial designers engage with industry, and what they have to change about their practice to be an integrative and valuable part in the future manufacturing paradigm. It will also inform industry about the capabilities of product/industrial designers, as well as changes in design education.

Advantages of taking part in this study include in-depth feedback about challenges and opportunities in new product development and industrial design practice, and how new technologies and systems in Industry 4.0 will influence the way products are designed.
