As of July 1, 2019, Perry Saidman, A/IDSA will become “Of Counsel” to Saidman DesignLaw Group, LLC. Saidman announced the new role in a statement released yesterday. The statement notes that Saidman “will handle a caseload focused on enforcement, litigation, utility patent and general consultation matters.” He will retain “the full support of the firm’s staff, including associate attorneys and legal assistants,” and his office’s location will remain unchanged.

George Raynal, partner at Saidman DesignLaw Group since 2014 and patent attorney, will lead the firm moving forward. In general, Raynal will “be responsible for handling and supervising prosecution matters, including preparing and filing design patent, trademark and copyright applications.”

Saidman and his team have a long working relationship with IDSA, and Saidman himself is renowned in the field of design law. In 1990, he founded Saidman DesignLaw Group, the first and foremost U.S. law firm to specialize in the patenting of designs.

In his former role as principal at the firm and throughout his illustrious career, Saidman has successfully represented clients in groundbreaking cases that have established the enforceability of design patents in court. Saidman also is the founder and co-chair of IDSA’s Design Protection Committee.
