Nominations & Elections Committee

This committee is responsible for identifying and vetting candidates who wish to serve in elected roles on the Board of Directors, committees and councils. Candidates for open positions are self nominated or nominated by a peer.

Engage leaders and role models who demonstrate IDSA’s core values and vision for the future of the organization.

Supporting a robust Call for Leadership process by helping to identify candidates for open positions.

Utilize tools such as a structured interview-like process and a candidate matrix, meant to provide objectivity when building Boards and Committees that represent the IDSA community and are diverse in regard to background, age, level of IDSA experience, race, ethnicity, gender, and perspective.

 

Mission

Identify candidates who are foremost qualified for the specific needs of each Board, committee, or council role while being inclusive and demonstrative of our increasingly diverse membership and broader design industry.

This committee maintains a high level of professionalism at all times and endeavors to facilitate an open, transparent, and constructive nominations and elections cycle each year. 

Key Tasks

In carrying out their work each election cycle, the committee:

  • Supports a robust Call for Leadership process by helping to identify candidates for open positions.
  • Utilizes tools such as a structured interview-like process and a candidate matrix, meant to provide objectivity when building Boards and Committees that represent the IDSA community and are diverse in regard to background, age, level of IDSA experience, race, ethnicity, gender, and perspective.
  • Present a final slate of candidates for each position is presented to the Board of Directors for endorsement prior to voting by the membership.

Committee Composition & Creation

The Board Chair shall appoint a Nomination and Election Committee, which shall serve for two (2) year terms and consist of voting members, each residing in and representing one (1) of the IDSA geographic Districts, and who, at the time of their appointment will not run for office.
