Richard Lambertson
Co-Design Director
Shinola
As co-design director of Shinola leather accessories, Richard Lambertson brings a pure American aesthetic with a global perspective to the brand. Throughout his storied career, the eloquent designer has continually owned and operated a one-of-a-kind home furnishings and antique shop, Privet House in New Preston, Connecticut—while actively collaborating with some of the industry’s most respected brands.
In 1998, Lambertson and John Truex founded their own company, Lambertson Truex, whose handbags were sold at department stores such as Neiman-Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman where they had their own first-floor boutique. Then in 2000, their accomplishments received national recognition when the Council of Fashion Designers of America named them Accessories Designers of the Year. In 2009, Lambertson and Truex joined Tiffany & Co. where their challenge—and ultimate triumph—was to create a quintessentially American collection of handbags and leather accessories with global appeal.
For Shinola, Lambertson applies his gimlet eye and worldwide experience to create and curate men and women’s leather collections that seek to redefine the notion of American luxury.
