Pascal Malassigné, FIDSA

Pascal Malassigné has served as Senior Professor and Chair of Industrial Design at MIAD. He was previously an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Medical College of Wisconsin and a research career scientist at the Milwaukee Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Malassigné is the recipient of many design awards and patents and is recognized widely for his design research work. For more than 35 years, he has devoted his non-teaching activities to design assistive and mobility products for individuals with disabilities for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is the author of many articles and papers and has lectured and made presentations on his work nationally and internationally. Malassigné has more than 40 years of industrial design teaching experience, including at Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech prior to joining MIAD in 1911. He received his undergraduate degree in France and his master’s in Industrial Design from 
Syracuse University. Malassigné is a Fellow in the Industrial Designers Society of America and served as the first president of IDSA’s Design Foundation. His service to IDSA includes positions of District Vice President, Education Council Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer on the Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Human Factors & Ergonomics Society, the Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America, and other professional organizations. Design Intelligence named Malassigné as one of the Most Admired Industrial Design Educators in 2006.
