IDSA Welcomes Donté P. Shannon, FASAE, CAE, as New Executive Director

The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) is excited to introduce Donté P. Shannon, FASAE, CAE, as its recently appointed Executive Director. With a wealth of experience in association management and exceptional leadership acumen, Donté is set to lead IDSA into its next chapter of growth.

With a career spanning over 18 years as an association executive and board strategy advisor, including more than seven years as a chief executive officer, Donté has consistently demonstrated his ability to establish productive partnerships, lead high-performing teams, and develop and implement strategic plans that drive organizational growth.

As the new Executive Director, Donté will guide IDSA’s strategic trajectory, oversee its operational imperatives, and elevate its provision of exceptional products and services. His visionary approach, coupled with his profound association know-how, will nurture a culture of innovation and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

I am excited to work with IDSA’s members, staff, and Board to continue the organization’s success while expanding its presence, diversifying its offerings, and strengthening its position as the profession’s leader.

Donté expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “For nearly 60 years, IDSA has been the voice of the industrial design profession and consistently met the needs of its members, professional chapters, and stakeholders, in addition to advancing and promoting the industry as a whole. I am excited to work with IDSA’s members, staff, and Board to continue the organization’s success while expanding its presence, diversifying its offerings, and strengthening its position as the profession’s leader.”  

Donte holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the College of Charleston and the Certified Association Executive credential. He was also selected as an American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Fellow, a digitalNow Leader of Distinction, and a Diversity Education Leadership Program (DELP) Scholar. He will begin serving as IDSA’s Executive Director on Monday, August 14, 2023.
