IDSA is debuting an exciting new way for designers of all experience levels to get the boost they need to start a career; transition to a higher or new position; solidify their skills; and much more. The IDSA Career Center will premiere at the IDSA International Conference 2016. The Career Center is scheduled from 10 am to 4pm on Thursday, August 18 in the Design Gallery at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.

A morning panel session will feature representatives from prominent design firms such as TEAGUE and Astro Studios, and global companies such as Newell Rubbermaid and PepsiCo. They’ll reveal what they’re looking for in design talent and what makes applicants stand out from the crowd. Design career experts Angela Yeh, IDSA, and Bob Schwartz, FIDSA, will share how firms and companies can attract and nurture a top innovation team. During a networking lunch, design experts will host table talk discussions on resume reviews; interview preparation; and networking skills.

The two-hour, ever-popular, Portfolio Review—co-sponsored by Core77—will take place in the early afternoon. Then, participants can roll up their sleeves to sharpen their design skills by joining a sketch workshop with Jeff Smith, IDSA, of Autodesk.

Participants at the Career Center can meet informally with representatives at the recruitment tables to explore current and future job opportunities. A listing of firms hosting recruitment tables will be updated soon.

Representatives from graduate schools from across the country will also be on-hand to share information about how their advanced degree programs can help designers take their careers to the next level:
