The IDSA Career Center returns to the International Design Conference—this time on Thurs., Aug. 17 at the Atlanta Marriot Marquis. After all, Design IS Business is the theme of the IDSA International Design Conference 2017.

RSVP now to participate in the Career Center, where designers of all experience levels can get the boost they need to start a career; transition to a higher or a new position or graduate school; solidify their design skills at hands-on workshops; meet IDSA leadership; and much more. And you don’t have to be in the job market to participate. Keeping your resume and portfolio polished is critical to moving quickly when new opportunities arise!

The Career Center kicks off with a networking lunch, followed by Sketch Aerobics™ with Jose Gamboa, IDSA, Overcome the barriers of communication by using music and the basic elements of sketching to visually communicate your thoughts. Sketch Aerobics ™ fosters teamwork; learn by doing and work hard! This workshop emphasizes the development of rapid visualization and the most effective ways to visually communicate your ideas as a flux for innovation.

Then join Jeff Smith, IDSA, of Autodesk, for Simulation in CAD for Designers. Are optimization, structural testing and event simulation strictly the domain of engineering?  Now, designers can leverage these tests and optimization tools in Fusion360 to create new design direction and a closer relationship with engineering. (Smith requests participants visit this link and download a free, 30-day trial of Fusion 360 in advance of his session. Once you’ve registered, use your new, Autodesk account email address, to email Smith, and he will invite you to his Fusion Project for the class.)

The workshops are followed by the ever-popular Portfolio Review, where professionals take a closer look and offer advice on putting your best work forward. RSVP.
