Programs

BFA in Industrial Design

The industrial design BFA degree at RIT helps students develop the aesthetic sensitivity, technical competence, and analytical thought needed to improve the user’s experience. Students bring their conceptual ideas to life by developing technical 2D communications skills and 3D prototyping ability. They also learn how to formally move ideas and products to the marketplace. Blending technical instruction with studio assignments, studies also include packaging, exhibit, and furniture design.

MFA in Industrial Design

RIT’s industrial design MFA program enhances career success by further developing knowledge in design process and technology. The project-based program allows students to explore design theory, design history, and human-centered design. They conduct unique research on various topics of interest, advancing their understanding of the industry and society. Students obtain hands-on experience with technical competence, analytical thought, sustainability, and transdisciplinary collaboration — all key to fueling careers.
