Fueling a Passion

An IDSA Student Member has been awarded the $5,000 Scott Morgan Design Scholarship. Audrey Krumenacker, S/IDSA, is a rising senior at Pratt Institute in New York City. She’s set to graduate in 2018 with a degree in ID and a minor in sustainability studies. Krumenacker is on the President’s List and earned a Presidential Merit Scholarship at Pratt. “I thrive to achieve simple, clear designs that provide more benefits than disadvantages to the user,” she tells Furniture Today. “My work is a reflection of my desire to create products that users will find meaningful and that will spark a sincere response to my love of nature, simplicity and color.”

“Audrey’s portfolio included multiple unique applications of material choices to satisfy a variety of design challenges and demonstrated her ability to work well in different mediums,” says Bruce Hirschhaut, a member of the scholarship board. “We look forward to seeing more strong design work from Audrey as she continues her design studies and career.”

The scholarship is Intended to fuel a passion for home furnishings product design and development embodied in the late Scott Morgan’s nearly 40-year career in contemporary furniture design and reflects the longtime support and mentoring he gave to aspiring furniture designers.
