Just a month after it won Gold in IDSA’s International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2016, Nascent Objects has been bought by FacebookModules and Shapes was designed for Nascent Objects by Steve Sangik Lee, Achille Biteau, Victoria Slaker and Robert Brunner, IDSA, of Ammunition Design Group. “Congratulations to the team at Nascent Objects on joining Facebook’s Building 8,” Ammunition posted on its Facebook page on Sept. 19.

Nascent Objects will join the social media giant’s hardware lab for an undisclosed sum. “Together, we hope to create hardware at a speed that’s more like software,” says Regina Dugan, who leads Facebook’s Building 8.

“Nascent Objects was founded on the principle that product development shouldn’t be so hard,” says CEO Baback Elmieh. “By combining hardware design, circuitry, 3D printing and modular electronics, our technology allows developers to go from concept to product in just weeks, much faster and less expensive than traditional methods. That’s also why we’ve decided to continue our mission at Facebook and Building 8. We’re excited to build products that can open the world to everyone and create on a scale we couldn’t have imagined before.”

He adds, “We’d like to thank our investors… early customers, design partner Ammunition and advisory board for their steadfast support.”
