In place of its traditional in-person May events showcasing the work of design students, WantedDesign presents the WantedDesign Online International Schools Show, May 12 – June 12, 2021. The virtual destination for discovering new ideas and young talent worldwide will feature work from more than 150 students from 15 international design schools in a lively and interactive online experience.
Register to attend the Creativity & Career: Designing Opportunities panel, May 12th at 1pm ET, a LIVE podcast conversation hosted by Amy Devers, co-founder of Clever, with Rosanne Somerson, President RISD, Natalie Nixon, Founder Figure 8 Thinking, and Diane Domeyer, Executive Director of The Creative Group. To celebrate the launch of the International Schools Show online exhibition, we will look at the many ways design students can employ their creative skill sets to seek out and design their own opportunities.
As part of the WantedDesign Online International Schools Show, WantedDesign maintains its annual Conscious Design Awards for Best Student Projects, presented with Metropolis magazine and with the support of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). The jury, led by Avinash Rajagopal, editor-in-chief of Metropolis, will choose winners in the categories of Original Concept and Design, Sustainable Solution, Project with Social Impact, and Ready to Be Implemented. The Best Conscious Design Award is given to the project that best embraces those four notions.
To round out the show, WantedDesign hosts an Emerging Designer Showcase, June 2-3, putting the spotlight on selected outstanding students taking part in the International Schools Show, including the winners of the Conscious Design Awards. Supported by Be Original Americas and moderated by Amy Devers, host and producer of Clever podcast, the Emerging Designer Showcase gives an opportunity for the top students to present their projects and introduce themselves to industry professionals. The public is welcome to attend.
Industry professionals giving feedback to the students will include design consultant John Edelman, former CEO of Design Within Reach, and representatives from Ligne Roset, Commune Design, Fantini, and Yellow Goat Design.
