Northeast District Design Conference 2018

Registration is open for the IDSA Northeast District Design Conference 2018: Every Product Has a Story, set for April 13–14 at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in upstate New York.

Stories are at the core of the design process. On one hand—they’re the narrative behind how any product came to be. Figuring out the form and function of an object is the easy part but figuring out how it ties to user needs and wants in order to enhance experience and quality of life is far more complex. On the other hand—creating a good product is not enough to ensure success. Designers need to craft stories about why products need to exist and how they connect to the lives of end-users.

NEDDC 2018 will explore how storytelling connects to products from these two angles, as advanced by forward-thinking, thought-provoking design leaders. You experience the thriving RIT campus, full of examples of integration of design and technology. The conference will be held at the world-renowned Vignelli Center for Design Studies, which contains the award-winning work of design masters Massimo and Lella Vignelli, along with a growing collection of contemporary products and their processes.
