The council serves in several capacities to support IDSA’s academic programming and help advance IDSA’s efforts in celebrating the work of our academic communities.
Vision
The Education Council serves in order to ensure the highest standard of industrial design education; to actively maintain a liaison among all members of IDSA (especially those whose professional responsibility is industrial design education); to promote and develop IDSA Student Chapters and activities; to promote Student Membership; and to consult with, and make recommendations to, the Chair and the Board of Directors concerning education policies, planning and matters within the Society.
Mission
Each year, committee members serve on the jury teams responsible for reviewing work to select Student Merit Award District Winners and Academic Education Paper recognitions. Additionally, District Education Representatives may also assist with organizing the annual Education Symposium.
Key Tasks
In carrying out their work, the committee will:
- Act as a liaison between IDSA’s professional, student, and academic communities.
- Review student work to select Student Merit Award District Winners.
