Exploring diverse and complex approaches to design education
The IDSA/Eastman Innovation Lab Education Symposium on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Sugar Mill in New Orleans is a fantastic cap to the 2018 International Design Conference emceed by John Maeda and Debbie Millman, two amazing design educators, and an excellent opportunity for the collective design community to discuss how we’re educating future designers for the challenges we face today in our rapidly changing world.
As we celebrate the diverse and complex way we approach design in the 21st century, it is just as important for us to examine the diverse and complex approaches to design education. This symposium provides the forum to share best practices and to discuss ways design education can prepare our students to design for the future.
Here’s a small sampling of what you can expect and what we hope to achieve during this year’s Symposium:
- Rapid Fire Paper presentations from a diverse group of scholars and thinkers
- Undergraduate Student Merit Award Presentations
- Graduate Student Merit Award Poster Presentations
- Keynote Presentation on the Future of Design Education
- Interactive Workshop
- Panel Discussion
We have planned this Symposium to provide ample opportunity to hear from and interact with your peers and students from various design disciplines from all over the world. We hope you choose to be part of this exciting exchange and contribute your voice and your ideas to the discussions.
