blkHaUS studios announces grants to attend IDC 2020

blkHaUS studios has announced grants for two Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) who are current Chicago design students and a young entry-level BIPOC professional to attend the upcoming virtual International Design Conference (IDC), hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), September 17-18, along with free membership to IDSA. 

 


 

Eligibility

BIPOC undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in a Chicago-area design degree program for the academic year 2020-2021 are eligible to apply to receive a one-year Student Membership to IDSA and free registration to the International Design Conference 2020.

BIPOC young professionals working or seeking to work in the design profession who have graduated in the last three years from an undergraduate or graduate Chicago-area design degree program are eligible to apply to receive a five-year Young Professional Membership to IDSA and free registration to the International Design Conference 2020.

Schedule 

Application window opens: July 28, 2020
Applications due: September 3, 2020
Grant notification: by September 8, 2020
IDC 2020 dates: September 17-18, 2020

How to apply 

Applications can be submitted through Submittable. You will need to set up your own account. The application deadline has been extended to September 3, 2020 at 5pm CST.   

Application requires:

  • Contact info and other information
  • A brief narrative about yourself, why you want to attend the conference, and your professional goals (300 words max);
  • 3-5 samples of your work
  • Contact information of one academic or professional reference
