Solo combines audiophile sound quality normally found in three to four separate devices into one sleek unit. The user interface is simple and intuitive and includes some useful touches, like extra-large graphics to display volume and a dimming feature for varying light conditions. It also has a sophisticated iPod interface, which allows the iPod to be controlled by the Solo remote and displays the iPod data on the Solo screen. Its simple indented controls are easier to read, and the slightly muted silver color is less brash. Solo’s distinctive, refined look is intended to blend into most decors and complement rather than shout. In its first year Solo exceeded its sales targets by 30 percent.
