The Sustainability Deep Dive 2021 seeks to leverage our resources, processes, and voice as industrial designers to establish new ways of thinking and methodologies in our studios, companies, and corporate settings that can help to ensure the ongoing health of our planet and its precious resources.
Following the success of our first Deep Dive exploring this topic in 2020, we’re continuing our efforts to create a platform that allows industrial designers to connect and share resources that will lead us to a more sustainable future. As the developers of products and services used by billions of people around the world, industrial designers hold a crucial position: one that demands we look for ways in which our work can ignite social, cultural, and institutional change.
Topics covered include (but are not limited to): circular design/economy, sustainable material innovations and manufacturing processes, zero-waste strategies, changing consumer behavior, closed-loop product development, biomimicry, product packaging, and much more.
The event took place online for two days on June 9 & 10, 2021 (4 hours each day). Attendees heard from talented designers with proven product development track records across a broad spectrum of sustainable product development practices.
