Conferences Committee

This committee is responsible for establishing strategic intent and consistency across IDSA’s national events. Members of the committee also support events by acting as the content teams who are responsible for establishing topic themes, identifying speakers, and curating the overall attendee experience.

Vision

Conferences and events are a central component of the IDSA experience. IDSA’s Conferences Committee assists in the development and delivery of best-in-class conference experiences for IDSA at the national and international level.

Mission

The Conference Committee is primarily responsible for developing and implementing the content strategy for future IDSA’s events. This is done by identifying content topics and themes relevant to IDSA’s membership and community. Once topics and themes are agreed upon, members of the Committee help curate event content through the selection of speakers, emcees, workshop facilitators, moderators, and panelists, etc.

Key Tasks

Working in close collaboration with IDSA staff, other specific duties of the Committee will include:

  • Ensure IDSA attracts, selects, and invites the best-possible presenters to participate in our events. These informative and thought-provoking individuals should have demonstrated experience and credible merit as subject matter expert in their field or proposed presentation materials.
  • Uphold IDSA’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through the composition of selected presenters.
  • Successfully position events, through relevant content curation and topic selection, as professional development opportunities that meet member’s professional needs and are desirable to attend.
  • If / when needed, work with conference presenters to refine and improve presentation materials (oral and / or visual elements) prior to the event.
  • Adhere to established planning timelines, commitments, and budget parameters to make certain that each conference or event can be produced on time and within budget.
  • Perform other duties as requested of IDSA’s Board of Directors.
