Microsoft® 2.0 Ergonomic Mouse

The most widely recognized mouse ever built. Designed as “The First Ergonomic Mouse,” set the standard and changed the perception of mouse design. The raised back conforms to the palm and supports some weight of the upper extremity, minimizing stress. The asymmetric form works equally well for left- and right-handed users and is perceived by both to work equally well. Mouse scale and form optimize thumb-fingertip opposition and simultaneous key clicks throughout a routine day of use.

Gatorade® E.D.G.E. ™

After defining a new sports bottle paradigm for GATORADE called “E.D.G.E.” – Ergonomically Designed Gatorade Experience – its sales soared by 25 percent. The innovative bottle design featured a choke hold grip, power grip zones and a mouthpiece designed to fit lips precisely. The patented cap is based on an anthropometric study of lip size and shape and a consumption study. The Power Grip Zone “choke-hold” is scaled to accommodate hand sizes in the 5th to 95th percentile. Contours on the main bottle body are scaled to fit finger diameters and drive a sports equipment look and feel that’s all gear.

Medtronic® M5 Straightshot® Microdebrider

Setting a new standard in ergonomic surgical instrument design, this breakthrough design of Medtronic’s M5 Microdebrider gives ENT surgeons all they asked for. The M5’s patented elastomeric grip provides perfect biomechanical control of the instrument in all orientations of usage. The design features a high dexterity trilateral grip where the middle finger opposes the thumb providing the grip security, freeing the index finger to operate the rotary control for the cutting window.

Revlon® Platinum Tweezer

This is the first tweezer with a truly ergonomic design. Through extensive, in-depth research in Manhattan’s high-end salons with eyelash and eyebrow experts defined the perfect amount of squeeze force and the best tip size and shape. The fingertip Control Grips with integral rubber texture accommodate fingernails of all lengths, provide a secure, comfortable grip when tweezing and allow for dexterous control when repositioning. The attention to tip shape and anvil size combined with surgical precision manufacturing allows users to easily and accurately tweeze individual hairs as small as 50-100 microns in diameter with minimal grip force.

The I.V. House “UltraDressing”

The I.V. House “UtraDressing” breakthrough design elevates bedside care to a new standard with a more humane approach. The tape-free style ensures safety and adds care, comfort and reassurance to an otherwise invasive and painful experience, and it is ergonomics that makes the difference. By using the same fabric that is used on diapers, this product creates a soft, comforting and tender feeling. The delicate Velcro closure allows nurses to conduct routine IV site checks without the pain of tape removal. The “UltraDressing” maximizes dwell time and minimizes painful restarts. “UltraDressing” comes in four sizes, fits both left and right hands.

ORAL-B® Crossaction® Toothbrush

Based on extensive perception and usability research in consumers’ homes across the United States, the defined first $5 toothbrush was designed with ergonomic and performance requirements that prescribed the perfect toothbrush. Perception research defined the proportions of the bristle head design, balancing the perception of performance with real brushing time. A rubber Pinch Grip Zone for fingertips optimizes dexterous control and tactile feedback. A non-slip rubberized Power Grip Zone provides overall grip security for slippery hands.

SOLO® Traveler Plus® Lid

Drink your coffee, don’t wear it! This “Traveler Plus” design has received prestigious awards for its packaging and was selected by The Museum of Modern Art in New York for a special exhibit. With a simple flick of the index finger, the sip hole can be opened and closed to prevent accidental spills. The lid is designed to fit lips of all sizes and shapes with minimize dribbles.

Magla®/Stanley® Contractor Gloves

Work gloves provide important protection for contractors, but until now they have made it more difficult to handle small objects. These first ergonomically designed contractor’s gloves have a revolutionary feature: a magnetized index fingertip to help pick up screws and nails, preventing dropped hardware. Triple-seamed fingers prevent unraveling if the fingertips are removed by the user.

BAYER® Microlet® & Ascensia® Breeze®

BAYER’S “Microlet” lancing device allows better control and a virtually painless stick. The new “Ascensia Breeze” Ergonomic Blood Glucose Meter increased sales of disposables more than 50 percent per month, resulting in increased revenue by 258 percent. Fingertip control for lance depth allows users to ease the pain with precision. One-touch START, large easy-read display, and ergonomic controls and grip allow diabetic hands to more easily grasp, hold and use the meter.

LISTERINE® 2.1 Liter Club Bottle

Get a grip on your bad breath. The design of Listerine’s 2.1 Liter Club Bottle enhances the perception of size and value and is designed with ergonomic grips for handling and decanting. The ergonomic grip panels provide mechanical interlock with the user’s fingers for comfortable and secure gripping of this heavy club-sized package. The tall, childproof cap features a large grip surface for ease of entry with wet hands. The brand’s iconic shape was refined to provide efficient “cube out” for supply chain while also providing knuckle clearance for individuals stocking shelves.

BacterioScan 216Dx UTI Detection System

The BacterioScan 216Dx UTI Detection System is a laser microbial growth monitor that detects and measures bacterial growth from clinical samples. The 216Dx is designed for the rapid detection of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing in microbiology labs. The current process takes 24-48 hours to detect infection and another 24-48 hours to determine which antibiotic is most effective. The BacterioScan 216Dx accurately detects infection within 90 minutes, reducing turnaround time by 95 percent for the vast majority of patients, saving lab cost and labor, and reducing unwarranted use of antibiotics.

AB-INBEV Budweiser Bowtie Can

The Budweiser Bowtie Can with Crown Tab is an innovation in packaging and the striking design commands attention at point of purchase. The design refreshes the classic American brand by creating a can that appeals to consumers visually, functionally and emotionally. The bowtie-shaped aluminum can mirrors the brand’s iconic logo while providing an improved grip compared to a traditional can. The striking red tab with a die-cut crown is a distinctive feature that reinforces the brand’s positioning. The result is an industry innovation that fosters camaraderie among young consumers and traditional, loyal drinkers alike
