In January 2017, the IDSA San Francisco Chapter and AIGA San Francisco Chapter co-hosted a wide-ranging panel of designers—moderated by The Techies Project founder—to tackle the issue of diversity in design.
“The community and the walls that came down were amazing,” says IDSA San Francisco Chapter Chair, IDSA Women in Design Special Interest Section Vice Chair and International Design Excellence Awards 2017 Juror Ti Chang, IDSA. “This event was not one that proclaimed to know the answers—but a platform to start conversations and understanding.”
The powerful portraits and interviews by Helena Price, a San Francisco-based photographer, feature the inspiring stories of more than 100 underrepresented women, seniors, people of color, LGBTQ and others in Silicon Valley tech. “I believe everyone learned something about each other,” says Chang.
