Harsh Wardhan, IDSA, is reshaping the future of strategic design through a powerful combination of human-centered thinking, innovation leadership, and global recognition. As an Innovation Manager at Google Cloud, he helps organizations navigate complex challenges by aligning technology, business strategy, and user needs.
This year, Harsh was inducted as a Chartered Designer by the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD)—becoming the first and only designer in the U.S. to receive this recognition specifically in Design Thinking. This international title, awarded under Royal Charter, affirms the highest standards of creative professionalism, thought leadership, and ethical practice. For Harsh, it also signals a new chapter in elevating the practice of design strategy in the U.S.
That same commitment to human-centered innovation earned Harsh and his team top honors at the Front End of Innovation (FEI) conference in the global “Mind vs Machine” competition. Representing Team Mind, Harsh helped reimagine the fictional city of Metropolia through the Green Heritage Capsule—a visionary concept that transforms neglected urban spaces into sustainable, community-first hubs. Their approach won over 75% of the public vote across social media platforms, and struck a chord with both the audience and organizers. The result: an invitation to return to FEI 2025 as hosts, coaches, and judges for the next evolution of the competition.
“Being part of IDSA has been incredibly rewarding,” Harsh shares. “It’s connected me with a vibrant community of design professionals, brought recognition to my work, and opened doors to regional networking opportunities.”
He draws inspiration from the community and resources, particularly INNOVATION Magazine—calling out the “Durational Design” feature from Summer 2024 as a standout. Through IDSA, Harsh was also invited to coach young innovators at the TYE Academy Bootcamp Silicon Valley, guiding high school students through the entrepreneurial process using design-led thinking.
