Statement of Candidacy

I am humbled to declare my candidacy for a leadership role within the IDSA Northeast District. With unwavering enthusiasm and a profound commitment to the advancement of the industrial design field, I present myself as a candidate for this esteemed position.

Over the past 3.9 years, I have had the privilege of serving as Vice-Chair and subsequently as Chair in the vibrant city of New York, where I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our community. Through these challenging times, I have seen the resilience and transformative power of our design community. It possesses the remarkable ability to influence how we engage with the world, conquer intricate challenges, and nurture creativity across all its facets. I firmly believe that the IDSA Northeast District plays a pivotal role in nurturing this transformative potential within our regional design community.

As a dedicated design professional and an active community leader, I bring a wealth of experience in both design and leadership to the Northeast District. I am confident that my contributions can significantly propel the growth and prosperity of our district. My passion for design is only rivaled by my commitment to collaborative problem-solving, innovation, and pushing the boundaries of what our future design community can accomplish over the next two years.

If entrusted with this role, I pledge to adhere to the following core principles and objectives:

  • Empower Design Community: I am dedicated to revitalizing the Northeast District in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. I aim to leverage the successes of the New York City Chapter over the past four years and extend these achievements to benefit all seven chapters within the Northeast District.
  • Fostering Community: Building a robust, inclusive, and dynamic design community is paramount. I will continue to streamline processes, enhance connectivity, and share best practices among Northeast District School Chapters, Northeast District Chapters, IDSA DEIC, IDSA National HQ, and IDSA DEIC.
  • Communication and Engagement: I will focus on implementing strategies for sustained growth, which include enhancing IDSA’s relevance, delivering greater member value-based experiences, and promoting more consistent practices for engaging with local entities. My aim is to equip our constituents with enhanced skill sets, increased job prospects, and an enriched educational experience, all while increasing the visibility of industrial design in the Northeast District.

I am enthusiastic about the potential for positive transformation and growth within our district. Nevertheless, I acknowledge that such progress cannot be achieved in isolation. It necessitates the collective effort, innovative ideas, and unwavering passion of our entire community, including the emerging Chapter leaders among us. As the adage wisely suggests, ‘We can’t open the new door with an old key.’ But, Let us stride forward with innovation and creativity, unlocking the limitless possibilities that await us.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude for considering my candidacy, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with you all in advancing the goals and aspirations of the IDSA Northeast District.
