Ted Shin is a professor at MSU Denver and Chairperson of the Department of Industrial Design. He received his MFA in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Previously, he worked for Samsung Electronics in Korea and designed many advanced projects, including Samsung’s first clamshell-type cell phone that changed their entire production line.
He was one of 12 designers selected out of 700 to be on a special design program at Samsung. This allowed him to travel to many countries, where he studied how different cultures impact design solutions.
Shin has taught industrial design since 2001,and now brings his practical experience to teaching ID at MSU Denver. His interests are in product-people interaction design, cultural design, new materials, and technologies.
