Biomimicry, Product Design, and the Circular Economy

Biomimicry is design innovation inspired by the way that nature works. The concept of a circular economy is a great example of biomimicry since there is no such thing as waste in nature. In ecosystems, resources flow through endless closed loops. But how do we design products to flow through a circular economy? What can nature teach us about how to create the most sustainable designs possible? This session is all about learning to ask these questions and how to look for the answers.

Sustainable Design is Key to an Evolving Design Practice

Sustainable design is critical to an evolving design practice as there is increasing global pressure to be more sustainable. This comes on top of the need to be innovative and fast. It’s easy to shy away from implementing sustainable practices, fearing large investment or dramatic changes to processes. But it doesn’t have to be an all or nothing proposition. Through an incremental approach to sustainable product design, Bresslergroup proves that changes can actually be made right here and now, with readily available tools. Attendees will learn how to graft steps for sustainable change onto their existing process, with a practical start today approach. This presentation will include convenient steps and an overview of affordable tools, along with product design case studies to illustrate how the tools and techniques can be implemented.
