Lisa Marks, IDSA is an award-winning international keynote speaker, professor, and Industrial Design researcher specializing in combining craft and algorithmic Design. Marks’ work focuses on developing new technological adaptations and applications for traditional techniques. She promotes and researches sustainable production methods to help endangered craft communities while connecting to culture, tradition, and generational knowledge. Her unique methodology is brought into the classroom to diversify material culture in Industrial Design and highlight how issues surrounding gender, class, and race have influenced Design throughout history. Her work has been shown at design weeks in New York, Milan, India, and Bangkok and has recently won the 2019 International Grand Prix Lexus Design Award. Lisa holds a BFA and an MFA from Parsons School of Design and is currently an Assistant Professor of Industrial Design at Georgia Institute of Technology.
