As a packaging innovation associate for Newell Brands, Holly Coggins assists in the development of new and innovative product packaging. She strives to delight consumers through out-of-the box experiences and creative packaging structure execution for Newell Brands—a worldwide corporation with a portfolio of more than 40 brands including Coleman, Yankee Candle, Rubbermaid, Sharpie, Prismacolor, Graco and Calphalon.
Coggins, a graduate of North Carolina State University’s ID program with a minor in business, values a deep understanding of the user and context. She has worked with companies such as Burt’s Bees, DEKA Research & Development, Marbles Kid’s Museum, TTI Power Tools and Husqvarna.

Recent ID grads from North Carolina State University—Holly Coggins and Emily Wise—share their journey from college into the professional world and offer advice to the next generation of designers.
Both work in Charlotte, NC—Coggins, for a major corporation, Newell Brands, in the structural packaging innovation department with a small consultancy feel; Wise, as an industrial designer at the global company, Britax, designing strollers and child car seats.
Combined, they have worked and interned at ten companies. Now, they’ll reveal lessons they have learned along the way.
