Statement of Candidacy

For the past 13 years as a designer, I have been involved with industrial design programs throughout IDSA’s South District. Whether hosting a studio tour, participating in a portfolio review, being a juror for a student merit competition, or presenting at a district conference, it has been a pleasure to give back to an organization that has given so much to me. IDSA exposed me to opportunities that began my career as an industrial designer, for which I am forever grateful. As an ambassador for industrial design, I’ve mentored many high schoolers and young professionals who share the passion for this field. As a board member of IDSA, I will bring the same passion and enthusiasm to help make strategic recommendations to the awards program.

The primary focus of my campaign will continue to be on IDSA’s internal awards programs: IDSA Awards (Academy of Fellows, Educator of the Year, SMA’s and GSMA’s).  It has been an honor to serve as the IDSA Awards Director – At Large for the past two years. During these two years, we have made recommendations on processes, criteria, relevancy and transparency of current awards issued, all while ensuring that nominees and recipients met the highest standards of excellence. Looking to the future, there is still more room to improvement. I will use the experience, feedback and momentum from the past two years to continue to fine-tune the IDSA Awards program.

I look forward to receiving your vote and working with you to continue enhancing the portfolio of IDSA Awards.
