Design Curriculum To Create Leadership

Georgian.png

As school budgets are being cut, a design leader implements the unique project based pedagogy with the need for unique furniture to create a curriculum to empower students. This project will span across five, 8 week “mini-courses” of 90 minutes a week. With 10 students in each “mini-course,” the curriculum will guide early high school students through the design process, breaking it up into five separate sections: Research and Concepts, Model Making and Design for Fabrication, Testing and Materials, Finishing Details, and Production. The participating students will learn to value each step and record their progress to pass onto the next group. This interaction is collaboration at its core, creating design leaders and motivating them to tackle other projects in their community and school. This is a curriculum not just to teach design, but also to create design leaders.
