Luis Angarita, IDSA

Program Head & Associate Professor of Industrial Design, The Design School of Arizona State University Associate Professor and Head of the Industrial Design program at ASU in Phoenix, USA, Luis is also a Design Advisory Board Member at NABA Milan. He is a Colombo Canadian designer and renowned product innovator, consultant, and entrepreneur who gained his experience and education in America and Europe. His innovations have earned recognition from prestigious institutions such as the Red Dot Design Award, the Arts and Business Personality of Montreal, three Steel Pencil awards, a nominee to Innovators of America, the Portfolio Award, and selection by the Ibero-American and Shanghai Design Biennials, among others. As the Co-founder of the innovation boutique CD&I Associates, Luis’s innovations and inventions have assisted startups and companies worldwide in creating new products and experiences that capture value. Luis has redesigned and taught the Design Management course for the Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University, the Master of Design for Health, and the ID program at OCAD University, Canada. He has chaired and rethought the graduate program in strategic design for UPB University, creating the chair of strategic innovation for the UN University COL. A guest speaker at Pratt Institute, the World Design Congress, Concordia University in Montreal, Holon Institute of Technology in Israel, and the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, Luis focuses his research on developing better tools and spaces to foster innovation. He is currently working on a series of books to help start-ups and entrepreneurs innovate. Beyond his professional endeavors, Luis actively engages in social causes and volunteers in equity and inclusion committees or projects aimed at solving global challenges through design.
