Luis Angarita, IDSA

I am the head of the Industrial Design Program at the Design School, Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, Arizona State University. with the goal of transforming curriculum and faculty into an innovative academic environment; I’m also the Disruptor of the innovation boutique CD&I Associates.    Innovation consultant and design entrepreneur, master in Design from Domus Academy Milan and master in Environmental Design from UQAM Montreal, convinced that through product design, immersive spaces, engaging strategies, disruptive services and strategic branding, we can accelerate any business and develop successful innovations.   Winner of the Red Dot Design Award, three times the steel pencil, recognized with the Prix Arts-Affaires / Arts-Business personality by the Board of Trade and the Conseil des arts de Montréal, the Palermo design contest,  finalist at the Portfolio of innovation and innovators of America awards and selected by the Madrid and Shanghai Design Biennials.   Created the Chair of Strategic Innovation at the National University, where I taught for more than ten years as I did it at the Design Faculty of Los Andes University in Bogotá; I also Directed and Planned the curriculum for the Strategic Design and Innovation graduate program at the UPB university Medellín, Designed the Innovation Lab at the Ibero University in Puebla MX and taught innovation at OCAD University’s Master of Design (MDes) in Design for Health, Toronto, Ca.   Guest speaker at Pratt Institute N.Y, World Design Congress and Concordia University in Montreal, Holon Institute of Technology in Israel, UBA Argentina and Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, among others.   Co-founder of CD&I Associates, a Toronto-based innovation firm established in Bogotá in 1995.   Over the past 25 years, my innovations and inventions have helped entrepreneurs, startups, and companies such as Weston Foods, Progen, Philips, Whirlpool, Carrefour, Cencosud, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, Syngenta, Coca-Cola, Yamana Gold, and LatinArte to achieve faster their goals.   As I did as president of JAVCA in Toronto and our Arts and Design community with the LatinArte foundation in Montreal, Canada, I am always open to volunteering.
