EVOSS – Ex-Vivo Organ Support System

The Ex-Vivo Organ Support System (EVOSS) is a medical device that facilitates human lung transplants. It provides preservation, rehabilitation, monitoring, and transport for donated human lungs. With EVOSS, donated human lungs remain warm, alive, and breathing in conditions that closely replicate that of a healthy human body. The system has three major components: a reusable hardware component that provides the primary enclosure, perfusion pump, and ventilation system; a disposable organ chamber and fluidics circuit, including a blood contact heat exchanger, oxygenator, sensors, and filters; and a folding transport base designed to elevate the durable to a proper working height and provide wheeled mobility.
