Professional chapters are a central element to IDSA’s membership experience. They help foster local connections and provide invaluable access to content and community in cities across North America. As IDSA continues to expand its influence and footprint, members of IDSA’s community have expressed a desire to better support women and non-binary designers in New York City through the formal establishment of a chapter.
Women in Design New York City (WID NYC) Chapter
WID NYC will support the community of women and non-binary Industrial Design professionals, and the organizations within NYC, and the immediate surrounding areas by:
- Providing spaces where women and non-binary designers can connect and support each other.
- Developing workshops, talks, and professional development support that are focused on women in the industry and their specific needs with challenges faced today.
- Offering a variety of activities and opportunities to support ID education and professional development.
The following professionals will serve on the inaugural leadership board:
- Katie Lim, IDSA (Chair)
- Aviva Shulem, IDSA (Vice Chair)
- Christina Perla, IDSA (Secretary /Treasurer)
- Sherry Chiu, IDSA (Student Liaison)
This proposal and petition are the first step in the establishment of this chapter. If you’d like to support this effort (regardless of your current location), please add your name to the petition. When at least 20 IDSA voting members sign, the Society’s Board of Directors will review the petition and approve the establishment of the Chapter by majority vote.
