About: Graciously hosting this event, 80 Acres Farms is an urban agricultural center in Northside that forgoes traditional farming methods in favor of a closed loop hydroponic delivery system. This approach allows production with 100% renewable energy and uses 97% less water than conventional farming. Crops yield higher, grow faster, and use fewer resources in an environment independent to climate change. Be inspired by their journey and incredible facility.
Guest speaker Zac Nelson (ID, DAAP 2010) is a Senior Designer at Axiom and the Founder and President of Global Humanitarian Service, a non-profit aid organization. Zac will share his perspective on the often overlooked social aspect of sustainability, specifically how it can be practiced in global development projects, and how it can impact industrial designers.
