The Role of Design in Social Innovation Intrapreneurship – IDSA TOR

November 8, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Building social infrastructure is a noble call to action; it offers both a vision and a call to practical implementation. The role that Design and Designers play in this has become increasingly more explicit (or co-opted) depending upon the sector, industry or system. More and more, Designers are being asked to participate and contribute to large-scale challenges like organizational design and change management to giant-scale challenges like climate change, social policy and economic development. In this 20 min talk, Nicole will talk about the how as a Designer she has approached developing the Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation at Georgian College to help actualize its Theory of Change of Flourishing Communities, Flourishing Economies within an applied higher educational framework. She will also talk about some of her personal reflections and lessons on developing collaborations for intrapreneuriship and how to navigate counter-intuitive decisions inspired by stakeholder needs within codified systems.
