South District Design Conference 2018

March 23-24, 2018
Raleigh, NC

Designers are called upon to employ various kinds of listening every day. Empathetic listening leads to an understanding of feelings and emotions. Critical listening provides evaluation and analysis of strengths and weaknesses. Informational listening allows us to absorb and comprehend new information. Mastery of listening is a skill that takes practice and effort. At its best, listening empowers designers to create innovative user-centered solutions, which ultimately empowers end users to engage in remarkable experiences.

The event was held at the stunning Hunt Library on the beautiful North Carolina State University campus. Nationally acclaimed speakers who are thought leaders in design—presented their insight and experiences on the power of translating listening into great design. SDDC also featured the eagerly anticipated annual Portfolio Review for Students, in addition to a new Young Professionals Career Clinic—both providing advising and networking opportunities with senior designers and managers.
