Adam Fromme

Assistant Professor of Teaching, Ohio State University Adam Fromme is an educator and designer. For nearly two decades, Adam specialized in corporate branding, environmental graphics, retail, hospitality and healthcare design. His investigations into how people experience shared spaces led him on a path to teaching. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Teaching and instructs in both Department of Design and the College of Nursing at Ohio State University. His work centers on design education, teaching people how to approach and solve novel problems using a designer’s mindset. This mindset focuses attention and foments confidence in value-based decision making, while also leveraging creativity, play, ambiguity and risk taking. Adam’s research looks at how this mindset affects individuals, teams and organizations seeking to add value and improve quality in both formal (workplace) and informal (parks and public space) settings. He continues to work directly with healthcare and community organizations. Adam is producer and host of the “Thinking through Design” podcast (available on Apple Podcasts). The podcast is a series of long-format discussions on how designers think through their work to reveal the designer’s mindset and realize its value. He is also a guest writer for Brand New, a design blog on current corporate and brand identity work from around the world.
